Yes, it is 7/16 inch.. Only found out because I had guessed at the wrong size and bought both sides. The hardware store next to the boat yard in Mex had several sizes of packing. I was able to match the packing I took out to 7/16. Easy job really, just the usual with boats where one hand is the only way to reach it.
